Closing Out 2012

The Blog has gone wanting for updates during 2012. For this I personally apologize. I will do better during 2013. Still, we have all been as busy as little bees getting everything accomplished.

During 2012 we accomplished so much!

We updated and published our Quarterly Newsletters, Heritage and History on time

We successfully reached our goal of 100 members

We are on track in compiling a pictorial history

We are on track with our renovation of the Courthouse

We have successfully raised all funding for our project through private donation

Leaving 2012 With a Bang!

The Society was contacted by the staff of our U.S. Senator, Roy Blunt. With only days to prepare, we were requested to open the Historic Courthouse Doors for a personal tour by the Senator! We hurriedly made phone calls and were all flitting here and yon in search of coffee and donuts, brooms and dustpans, and the like. We thought we had some downtime after the Christmas Party and Contractor Bill was installing the doors on the east side. Our floors were set to be going down too. Nonetheless, it was exciting to get to meet Senator Blunt, shake his hand, and share our progress with him!

Annual Meeting - September 16, 2012

We set a goal in January of this year to reach a goal of 100 + Membership. We have reached that goal, we are proud to say! If you aren't a Society Member, please join in the fun of restoring the Old Courthouse on the Square, helping to set up displays for the new Museum, helping to collect artifacts and old photographs!

Soup Lunch Fund Raiser

The Society is hosting a Soup Lunch to raise funds to further the Restoration Project! Come join us February 24 between 11 and 2.

Work Day: 11 February 2012

We had a great day of fun at the work day! Carol made some awesome Lasagna for the workers. We didn't have as many show up as we would have liked, but those that did had a great day of sanding and preparing another room for the drywall. It will look so good when it finally receives some paint!

NEW Pictorial History

We have a group who are working hard to present for publication a Pictorial History of the County. We are collecting county photographs from its inception through WWII.... If you have any photos to print, we have a laptop and scanner and will travel to your home! Talk to your grandparents, parents, and neighbors, then drop us a line and we will come to you!

WORK DAY: 14 January 2012

We have a work day scheduled. Gene is going to bring Pizza for all the workers! Come join in the fun, mud a few holes, pound a couple of nails, and enjoy the company!
